Members of 37 Regular Course of Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) today formally handed over a newly constructed Squash Court and a horse to the NDA, as part of activities to commemorate their 35th anniversary.

In his remarks, the Chairman of 37 Regular Course, Rear Admiral BJ Gbassa, disclosed that the donation is geared towards improving sporting activities at the Academy. He noted that the course felt the need to make a positive contribution to the Academy with a facility that will be lasting and enduring.

Recieving the Squash Court and the horse, Commandant NDA, Major General Jamil Sarham, thanked members of 37 Regular Course for their donation. He assured the members that the edifice and horse donated would be put to good use.

Gen Sarham reiterated NDA’s commitment towards ensuring that it produces quality officers for the Armed Forces. To this end, he said, discipline remains a key component in deciding who is fit for a presidential commission and a service in our Armed Forces.

“NDA is guided by established rules and regulations and any cadet who contravenes these regulations must be faced with appropriate sanctions, as prescribed by the laws” Gen Sarham said.

He added that under his watch no one will be allowed to interfere with the training of cadets. “This is to ensure that the highest quality of training is attained, so that graduates of the Academy can be of the greatest value to their commanders in the field”, he added.

Members of Regular Course 37 assembled at the Academy 35 years ago to commence cadets training. Activities commemorating their 35 year anniversary will last for 2 days.
