COVID-19: 174 Plateau Civil Servants Test Positive, 19 Death

A total of 174 civil servants in Plateau State have been confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus.

Secretary to the government of Plateau State, Prof. Danladi Atu, made the disclosure during an update briefing to Journalists on the virus Tuesday in Jos, at old government house.

“We have so far conducted test for 4,422 staff of 54 MDA’s with 174 of them testing positive,” he said.

Prof. Atu said as at last count, the death toll for covid-19 was 19 since the pandemic was recorded in the state.

“We have discharged 446 persons, and sadly recorded 19 deaths. We are observing 454 suspected cases at the moment.”

Out of the positive cases, 58 health worker are infected, 10 doctors, 15 Nurses 3 CHEW’s 2 J/CHEW, 3 pharmacist technicians 1 lab technician 1 record clerk, 1 watchman and 14 cleaners from the health sector alone.

The secretary to the government of Plateau state stressed further that a total of 14,816, have undergone the covid-19 medical examination, out of which 10,922 results have been received.

Prof Atu also said the Plateau State has three testing centers in the state, and encouraged citizens to avail themselves.

In view of the increase in positive cases of covid-19, the Plateau State government has banned open air prayer ground during the forthcoming sallah.
