Kano State Governor,, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has on Monday inspected the ongoing construction of Sani Abacha Stadium Covid-19 Isolation Center embarked upon by Dangote Foundation.
Governor Ganduje, as he sat on one the patient’s bed said that ” I am sitting on this bed not because I am a sick person, I am Covid-19 negative, but seeing is believing. I want to feel the comfort that Dangote Foundation team has brought for those that are found positive”.
The Governor disclosed that the government has adopted three strategies in order to curtail the menace of Covid-19 in the state. The strategies, according to him, are preventive aspect in which the state government has closed all 11 boarders leading into and out of the state while those on essential services and materials are examined before been allowed to come in.
He also disclosed that there is curative strategy which is preparedness in case of a positive case and lastly the palliative aspect, under which he appointed a powerful committee to collect and distribute donations to the most vulnerable groups in the society.
“With this Isolation Center that is almost ready, what remains now is the testing center. The Federal Government has promised to establish a testing center while the state government in collaboration with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) are going to come up with another testing center as well,” the Governor noted.
On the zero confirmed case of Covid-19 in Kano, Ganduje said “it is not due to our effort, but Alhamdulilah, it is the will of Almighty Allah that we do not have a single case of Covid 19 in the state”.
He however urged people to pray against the prevalence of the pandemic in Kano.
The state commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, who is also the Chairman of the Committee on the Establishment of Sani Abacha Stadium Isolation Center, said that the government has done a lot to ensure that the good people of Kano are protected by sensitizing and engaging stakeholders at the various levels in addition to establishing the Kwanar Dawaki Isolation center which is well equipped.
He said, the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry Of Environment, Ministry of Works and Ministry of Youth and Sports have mapped out how to manage wastes that may be generated at the Sani Abacha Isolation center.
The team leader from Dangote Foundation conducted the Governor round the center disclosing that it consists of two 250-bed wards one for males and females patients a 500 bedding each. sector it has 2 tents each while the rest of the components, including cooling system, are on the way.
