The supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed the election of governor Simon Lalong, as the substantive governor of Plateau state in Abuja, the Nigerian federal capital territory Monday evening.
Governor Lalong’s Victory was earlier ascertained by the lower electoral tribunal and the Appeal Court which Sat in Jos Plateau state.
Reacting to his victory, governor Lalong through his director of press and public affairs Dr. Makut Simon Macham, in a press release issued in Jos.
Dr. Macham said the governor has dedicated his victory to God and the Plateau citizens.
“I again dedicate this victory to God and the people of Plateau State irrespective of their political, social, religious or ethnic affiliations.
Dr. Macham stressed that “the supreme court has finally sealed and confirmed beyond further questioning the overwhelming mandate willingly bestowed on him by the good people of Plateau State.”
Governor Lalong said he is ready to develop the state, he pledged for good governance.
“The time now is for governance and actualisation of our next level agenda encapsulated in our 3 point vision of peace, security and good governance; Infrastructural development and sustainable economic rebirth”.
On his part, the PDP governorship candidate Gen. Jeremiah Useni, in a press statement appeal for calm from his Supporters.
“I hereby call on all Stakeholders, officials and supporters of the PDP, and indeed the good people of Plateau State to remain calm, peaceful, and to decline to react to any form of provocation.” Useni appealed.
He call for unity among party members “let us then stand together and keep the party going. Do not trade blames. It won’t lead to any good destination. It is also no time for mourning. Afterall, we all fought gallantly together. Our best is yet to come.
But he said the PDP will not relent in contesting future elections in the state.
“So, let us face the future with pride, confidence and dignity. As long as God gives us breath, we must keep as our enduring agenda the vision for the total security, unity and prosperity of the people as our state.”
Meanwhile, there are reactions to the victory of governor Lalong, two Politicians, and former special assistants to the incumbent governor Mr. Steven Sarki Musa, and Nde Sati Tanko, said the victory is for peace loving people of the state who voted for Lalong.
Mr. Sarki said the Judgement by the supreme Court has pevy way for total governance by APC lead administion, he call on governor Lalong and the entire administration to develop Plateau state to the admiration of all.
Nde Sati, a former Adviser to the local government chairman of Kanke, appealed to Lalong to run an all inclusive government; and invite his opponents to work with him.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that governor Simon Lalong, has already embraced his political rival, Gen, Senator Jeremiah Useni, of the People’s Democratic Party PDP at the supreme Court hall in Abuja, shortly after the pronouncement of the Judgement.
