An explosion of multiple gas cylinders has killed about Six persons in Sabon-Tasha, along Kachia road, Kaduna metropolis.
The explosion took place at a retail gas shop when the owner was refilling a customer cylinder at about 2:24 pm on Saturday.
Some of the casualties were customers who had gone to refill their cylinders while other victims were either attendants at the neighboring shops or passerby.
Our Correspondents who was at the scene report that only parts of human body were seen on the road.
Among the victims, is a renown Professor Of Physics, and a staff of Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Professor SP Malam.
The Professor who was returning from the festive holiday, had stop over to shave his hair at the barber’s shop near the exploded gas shop.
Mr. Philip Kambai, a survivor who was having his hair been shave said two persons including Professor Malam were burnt to ashes.
“Myself and and Barber narrowly escape with injuries through ceiling before the entire building was engulfed with fire,” he said.
According to him, “about Six people that he knew including a lady that went to buy gas and the attendant were instantly killed their body parts scattered”
Another survival, who identified himself as Bulus told our Correspondents at husband hospital bed, he was just a passerby inside a commercial tricycle when the gas exploded.
“I was inside Keke Napep when the gas exploded, though I sustained injuries, but I am grateful that I survived it,” he said.
Families and Friends were seen visiting nearby hospitals to check for their loved ones.
Eye witness at the scene lamented that late arrival of firefighters affected rescue efforts and saving of the victims trapped by the inferno.
