The Executive Chairman, Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Commission Muhammad Lawal Maidoki has presented a paper titled “Tree endowment for Sustainable Development Goals” at 2019 Sokoto Climate change Summit held at Ummaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto.
The paper Shed light on how an effective Tree planting can help in realizing the 17 cardinal points of SDGs.
He also Spell out the environmental, Economic, spiritual, nutritional and social benefits of Tree planting which are in tandem with the collection of 17 global goals set up by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015.
The goals were aimed at transforming the world on Social and Economic Developmental issues.
Earlier before the paper presentation, the commission chairman delivered a keynote address which focused on how to build a resilient Sokoto State in the face of global climatic threats and its consequences on food security, livelihoods and Ecosystem.
He advocates the upsurge need for adaptation which denotes the positive changes in processes, practices and structures to moderate potential damages or the benefit from the opportunities associated with climate change.
