The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Monday formally receives Senator Suleiman Othman Hukunyi, the Senator representing Kaduna North, Alh. Isa Ashiru Kuda, a former two term House of Representatives and thousands of APC decampees back to the opposition PDP.
Senator Hunkuyi, who spoke to the mammoth crowd reiterated his commitment towards ensuring that the incumbent governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai did not return to the Government House come 2019.
Hukunyi told the mammoth crowd at the Kaduna Trade Fair Complex along Zaria Road to go and get their Permanent Voter Card (PVC), “please try to get your own, so that we can collectively wrest power from El-Rufai led administration.”
“This is a failed government and we must put an end to such government in 2019”.
Earlier, the state chairman of PDP, Hassan Hyat said it was Hunkuyi that brought Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s into power in 2015.
“It is you, Hunkuyi that brought El-Rufai into power but, now that his government has failed there is the need to remove him from office due to his poor performances.
“Today, in Kaduna we have two senators, and we can consolidate on that to push El-Rufai out of government house come 2019”, the Party Chairman said.
Meanwhile, Security operatives had a Herculean task controlling the crowd as it took close to thirty minutes to clear the way to the podium for dignitaries to deliver their messages at the formal reception for recent decampees into the party.
Hawkers selling different wares took advantage of the population at the venue, to make brisk business.
Top dignitaries spotted at the formal reception were Senator Danjuma La’ah (representing) Kaduna South, former Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, an aspirant for same position in 2019, PDP Kaduna State Chairman and Honourable Felix Hassan Hyet.
Also spotted was Malam Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau), another governorship aspirant, who was accompanied to the venue by several top PDP chieftains, including former Commissioner of Youth and Sports Kaduna State, Honourable Abdulazeez Mohammed.
Also at the reception, were Usman Bawa ABG and frontline politician, Alhaji Shehu Giant
The event which turned out to be a carnival of some sort, witnessed several cultural displays from various entertainers.
It also turned out to be an avenue for the launching of several campaign songs for PDP and its candidates, waxed in the predominant Hausa language by various artistes.
The charged atmosphere also was illuminated with branded vehicles, posters and handbills.
