The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna state has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress. APC, and Governor Nasir el-Rufai Of plotting to use a Vigilante, known as Kato da Gora as ‘legitimate thugs’ to rig the 2019 general elections in the state in their Favour.
Mr. Felix Hassan Hyat, Chairnan of the PDP in Kaduna State said during a press briefing held at the State party’s Secretariat in Kaduna “the plans to use the vigilante Persons during the elections is contrary to the fact that the security outfit is not recognized by INEC as part of the security apparatus.
Hyat added that, “the Governor has turn a blind eye over the security threats in the areas of Birnin Gwari and Southern Kaduna, he has failed to adequately fund security agencies to fight these ugly crimes but deploying huge resources to champion his anti people political agenda of self perpetuation in office.”
“As the 2019 general elections draw nearer; his desperation level is an all-time high with all available objective assessment showing that voters in the State are determined to send him parking considering the ethno religious tension in the state, his decision to run a Muslim-Muslim ticket was received with mixed reactions,” they sai.
The PDP further called on the electorates, security agencies, observers and the international community to focus attention on the build up to the gubernatorial election in the State.
According to PDP, “there are allegations of mass mobilization and importation of foreign mercenaries from within Nigeria and neighbouring countries to cause mayhem and facilitate rigging, hence justifying the boast by the Governor of winning election by 1: 00pm and that his re-election is a done deal.”
“Our impeachable sources revealed that the Governor and his party, the APC compiled lust of Ad-hoc staff cut across the 23 LGAs, Wards and polling Units to facilitate his victory through the back door,” Hyat disclosed.
” In view of the utterances of the Governor which is a threats to our democracy, we call on President Mohammadu Buhari, media, security, local observers and the international Community to investogtae and take proactive measures in ensuring that they save our democracy from the hands of accidental and desperate politicians led by the Governor in Kaduna State,” they said.
The party noted that, “the electorates have a big role to play in ensuring that they are vigilant and defy intimidation by coming out to vote and defend their votes.”
