ANAN Set To End Recession, Charges Members On Prudence Service

Chairman, council of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria ANAN Mr. Anthony Nzom has task accountants in Nigeria to end economic recession through prudence accounting service in the public and private sectors.

“Recent development in our body polity and the entire economic spectrum paint a gloomy state of affairs. This can be traced to poor management of our national resources, leading to the prevailing economic recession, that has brought pain and untold hardship on the populace.”

“Members are charge to take mandatory continuing professional development MCPD programme and other programmes of the association serious.”

Mr. Nzom made the call Tuesday in Jos, Plateau state, at the opening ceremony of the second session mandatory continuing professional development programe for ANAN members in the north central geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

ANAN national chairman said the four day event was mandatory for all members “MCPD programme is mandatory and non attendance of at least a session in a year attracts disciplinary sanction.”

He commended the federal government in the efforts been made to bring to an end of the recession.

“We commend efforts of the government in launching the economic recovery and growth plan, a medium term plan for 2017-2020, designed to restore economic growth and provide a support base for the inventiveness of Nigerian people.”

Declaring the event open, Plateau state governor Simon Lalong, represented by state commissioner of Finance Mrs. Tamwakat Weli, governor Lalong also urge ANAN to sanitize the economic sector through it members, as a meaning of ensuring good governance.

Governor Lalong assure that his administration will be accountable and public oriented.

He charged the national body of ANAN to ensure that Nigeria citizens build confidence in their services to the public.

Contributing, ANAN chairman in Plateau state Ibrahim Makut, in an interview with Journalists, shortly after the opening ceremony, said the association was committed in ending economic recession and corrupt practice in all sectors of the economy through retraining of member on professional practice.

“The mandatory continuing professional development is aimed at ensuring that our members are retrain on professional practice, this is another way of making sure that our members do the right thing at their respective offices.”

“The mandatory continuing professional development programe is held six times a year for each of the six geopolitical zones of the country, this one holding in Jos, is for the north central zone.” He revealed.

Mr. Makut explained that the mandatory continuing professional development programe of ANAN holding in Jos was sponsored by the government of Plateau state.

The event is holding at Lands field, Jos south local government, it ends this Thursday.
