11 Killed, 12 Injured In Jos While Gov. Lalong Plot Re-election Bid In China

Armed men suspected to be militia herdsmen attacked and killed eleven persons at Lopande, Dwei, a settlement, which is located metres away from the new government house Jos, in Ray-field, Jos south local government area of Plateau state capital.

The new government house was built and commissioned by the immediate past administration in the state, a statement confirming the attack by the police said it has mobilized more force to the scene.

“The victims were immediately rushed to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and Plateau Specialist Hospital. As a result of the attack, eleven (11)persons have been confirmed dead by doctors from both hospitals.” Police stated.

Police in the state also confirmed the the incident and the death toll on Monday, it said more police officers have been deployed to the trouble zone to maintain law and order.

“More security personnel have been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks on the Community.” Police said.

The statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Plateau state police Command DSP Terna Tyopev, also said 12 persons were badly injured during the attack, and are been treated in hospitals.

“While (12) persons were wounded and are now on admission receiving treatment.”

Police said the attack occur early hours of Sunday night, at about 8:30pm, “On the 02/09/2018 at about 2030hrs, the Plateau State Police Command, Jos received a distress call to the effect that unknown gunmen attacked Lopandet Dwei Du Area of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.”

Multiple eyewitnesses who spoke with Kakaaki Reporters in Jos, affirmed that that attackers drove in a Hilux vehicle, and shot sporadically at residents, killing innocent people.

“My community in Latya and Lakwandet, close to Guratopp in Rayfield Jos South came under attack by some gunmen. They shot and killed people. At least, I personally counted eleven corpses.

“They came in a Hilux. Alighted in the community and began shooting people at will. Some were in their shops and were shot to dead there. In a commando style, all these killings took less than 5 minutes to execute and the killers zoomed off before anyone can even realized what had happened.

“Three persons are at Airforce Military Hospital receiving treatment for gunshot wounds,” said a resident, Bulus.

The incident occurred while the governor of Plateau state Barr. Simon Bako Lalong, is away in an oversea journey in Bejin China plotting his reelection bid.

The Plateau state chief executive is said to be on the entourage of President Muhammadu Buhari, who traveled to China at the weekend.
